Lehi Pool

We went to Utah last weekend and had a fabulous time. We went to the dinosaur museum, where we learned that there is actually a camasaurus - which cameron has on a pair of his pajamas. Of course, the boy's favorite part was the sandbox. Ian is really shy around big groups of children - so he really only opened up after most of them left.



We intended to go swimming with Cousin Mae on Saturday - but got there - and the pool was closed for the day.......so we tried again on Monday morning. We missed Mae - but had a great time, and Ian is already planning his next trip back.


Cameron was really tired but had a good time anyway. I wish everyone could have heard him giggle when he sat on one of these fountains.

This isn't the greatest picture - nearly missed them entirely - but Ian's face is PRICELESS.

And, of course, we got out of the pool just in time to catch Drew before he flew off to Chile on his mission. Drew was totally surprised - and it was great to see him. You can see Cameron is about ready to check out. Both boys fell fast asleep the minute we got in the car.

Ramblings & News Bytes

1. After hanging out with my family last weekend, and listening to all of them counting points, and talking triathlon training, I decided it was probably time for me to go back to working out. I lifted weights two days ago, and went running yesterday. I am so sore today. You never realize how many times you crouch down, until you get there, and can't get up so easily. Also, you never realize how dark it is outside at 6:30 am until you try to run at that hour. Too bad there will never be a gym in Ruby Valley.

2. I heard on the news today that a woman gave birth to octuplets - that's 8 babies to the mathematically challenged. I'm all about having big families. I come from a family of 7. But, the kicker is that she already has 6 children. So, now she has 14 children under the age of 7. I used to think twins would be fun - but after having two kids - I realized how much work it was. I cannot fathom having 8 infants - not to mention another 6. I will never have close to that many children as I am nearly 35, and only have 2 kids.....unless I have some amazing number of babies in my next pregnancy......but if it ever did happen, I'd probably have to be committed. I hope that mother can handle it.

3. I have NO IDEA who is playing in the super bowl this sunday. I guess that's just one perk of not having tv. I also don't recognize any of the movie titles on the marquees of the movie theaters.

4. They reported on KSL this morning that spending too much time on facebook is not healthy for your marriage...because that's where many affairs start. All I can say is SERIOUSLY? Get a life people.

5. When I told Ian the other day that he couldn't have cheetos for breakfast, he said "mom, i'm really sorry i have a mouth to eat".

6. We overpaid the phone company for our new phone line, and rather than reopening our account an fixing it, they just gave us our check back (for $3,800.00). I guess I don't fully understand a company who won't bother with the hassle to get their $1800.00. That sounds like a lot of money to me. I guess we should be glad they just didn't keep the whole thing. Now, we get to apply it to PRINCIPAL!!

7. Bambi got hit and killed on Sunday. She followed someone up onto the road...and...well...she's not really street saavy. Also, no one ever expects to see a deer on the road in January.

Painting Results

The painting frenzy is finally over. I finished painting the master bathroom a few days ago, and now I feel like I'm on summer break. What to do with myself? I thought I'd post some results pictures. I like all the rooms - but our bedroom is my favorite. I'll have to post pictures of that later. I have a hard time getting a good picture of it. Anyway - it's mostly just a picture of a wall. We hardly have any furniture or anything on the walls.

I read somewhere that if you wanted a place to be a relaxing retreat, you should paint it aqua. This is the closest we could bare to come to aqua. It's called green tea - and I love it - during the day. At night, the lights make it look like sage green, which gives me terrible flashbacks to the early 90's.

Ian's only requirement for his room, was that it had to be blue.

Tyler chose the green for Cameron's room. At first, it looked florescent to me, but I'm getting used to it. Also, I'm hoping to put up matching valances in both the boys rooms sometime in the next year.

Our next winter project is bean bags. We decided against getting any couches for our family room. We're just going to make a few massive bean bags and call it good. We looked into buying some, and were stunned at what a bean bag could cost....up to $700. So, we thought, 'how hard could it be to make one ourselves? it's bag full of beans!'. Of course, we will post all the details so you too can make your own bean bag if you so desire!

Is This REALLY January?

Last January we were snowed in for weeks. We got stuck more times than I care to remember, just trying to get out of the lane so we could go see someone else, and remain sane. This year, we're playing in the mud. It's nice to be able to get out of the house. But, I also hope we get more snow before winter is done.

Ian played in this puddle for at least an hour. I think he must have taken a mouthful of dirt, just to keep up with Cam. We may have a pair of "one uppers" on our hands.

Both of my boys have loved eating dirt and playing with screwdrivers.

Cameron cries like he's being attacked if you won't give him his tool of choice. I guess I should just thank my lucky stars that Cam hasn't started eating Ian's most favorite food...dog food.

Massive Head Wound Harry

Remember Massive Head Wound Harry from Saturday Night Live? We've got our own Harry.


Poor kid fell off the front step onto the cement last week. You know - it's the kind of fall where you're just a milisecond too late to catch them. His scab was half gone - babies heal amazingly fast - but today, he fell off the bed (he and Ian like to jump on our extra bed) and opened it all up again. Ian was worried when we were playing on his bed because he didn't want him to get blood on his pillow...just like massive head wound harry. We wish Cam a speedy recovery.

Notice right between Tyler's and my head - Ian has gathered all the candy canes and deposited them in one easy to reach spot. He said it was to keep them away from Cameron (this is Ian's main obsession lately) - but I think it was really convenient access for him when got the hankerin' for something sweet.
