Independence Day

I'm back from family reunion-mania. I'm going to try to update without boring all of my many followers.

Every year around the fourth of July, we have a family reunion with my Grandma Neff's sister's family - the Jensens. We also attend the Ruby Valley Firemen's Picnic. There are no fireworks, no parade, no concerts. Just family and friends, games and a good portion of red meat. I was telling someone the other day that Ruby Valley wasn't the place to spend the 4th because they didn't have all those big city things. But, when the day was done, I decided I much prefer this to any other celebration.

Here are a few pictures from the Firemen's Picnic.

This is what a small town picnic looks like - a bunch of good ol' boys chattin' it up.

It costs $1 for a pop, but hey, it's for a good cause. I saw people nearly running to the bar....but maybe they were looking for more than a pop.

Kirk and Bob would be stoked to know they are on a blog.

We were in charge of the kid's games. We used a pinata from the 1980's we found in my grandma's house. Before we even started, the head fell of three times. We thought it would break on the first hit. Well, after the Krenka's finished duct taping it, it took at least 10 good smacks before it came back off. We never could break the rest of it open. Tyler had to cut it open with his knife.

Cameron cried when the head came off the pinata.

Notice where Tyler was after the kids got ahold of the extra water balloons. I wish I had a picture of Dana chucking the last fatal water balloon.
